Inn-formation on our Wine Country lodging business
The Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn and Dry Creek Inn are friendly, family-owned and operated Northern California hotels dedicated to giving leisure, group, and business travelers a mid-priced, high-value Wine Country experience unlike any other.
About Krug Family Properties
Founded in 1969 by Norman Krug, Krug Family Properties today owns and operates two Northern California Wine County hotels: the Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn in Sonoma and the Best Western Dry Creek Inn in Healdsburg. Both have been open for more than 20 years and are consistently top-performing U.S. properties in the Best Western worldwide hotel chain.
For all of us in the Krug family, the Wine Country hotel business is a labor of love. Our Northern California roots extend back four generations, from the time our ancestors immigrated to the San Francisco Bay Area from Poland, near the German border, just before World War I. Family vacations in Sonoma County starting in the 1920s led to us to make permanent homes and bring our business here.
We chose to build hotels in the communities of Sonoma and Healdsburg in large part because they share similar charms and characteristics. Both have a central town plaza with unique shops, restaurants, and galleries. The art, food, and wine are fresh and sincere, bringing travelers back year after year from all over the globe. We are proud to be part of their experience.
We have named the Krug Event Center at both inns in honor of Richard and Theresa Krug, our late parents and grandparents, who established the roots that enabled us to grow and succeed. Their dedication to the traditional values of hard work and family togetherness continues to inspire and motivate us today. Richard and Theresa believed that as long as even one person remembers your good qualities, you live on, and we want to ensure that their legacy lasts for generations to come.
The origin of our logo designs is the English translation of the German word "krug," which means crock, jug, or jar. Not surprisingly, "krug" is also the occupational nickname for the proprietor of a tavern or inn, especially in northern Germany. We feel it is our destiny, then—as well as our privilege—to host you here in the beautiful Northern California Wine Country that has played such a significant role in our family history and that we love so much.
