Adult Religious Education — 9:30 AM Lee Hamilton, "Nothing fails like prayer, however…LET US PRAY!" Prayer has a long history in the Unitarian Universalist tradition, as in most religions. Our worship services use prayer and many of us, including theists, agnostics and atheists use prayer in our own spiritual practices. "Gimme" prayers and those that attempt to tell a deity what to do are not helpful. Prayer that helps us align with the laws of the universe, on the other hand, can have great value. Why? How might praying help even those of us who do not believe a deity is listening? Main Service — 11:00 AM First Unitarian Church of San Jose, "Stories from the World of Religious Exploration" Our special guest for this fifth Sunday of the month is Father José Antonio Rubio, who serves in Gilroy and who has partnered with the Islamic community to combat Islamophobia. Father Rubio's multifaith experiences around the world have profoundly transformed his understanding of the variety of human expressions of religion, as well as expanded his own faith. Please come welcome our special guest and hear his stories! Social Hour — ten minutes after completion of the Main Service Visit nvuu.org for service links.
